About Arsenal:
As someone who doesn’t care much for arena shooters, i was happily surprised to watch the development of the game progress from its demo to its much more refined and polished product. Its a bit like devil daggers + Quake + Halo’s scoring skulls system. You fight through a arena killing purple robotic angels to score points that unlock player upgrades and weapons. This means the first 30mins are a bit slow as you go from fairly mundane weapons and speed, but its not long before you’re scalling walls, dueling a sword and shotgun all while avoiding deadly energy beams. I’d like some more levels and maybe a more complex scoring system, but for single man team project its good stuff! An absolutely amazing game. At first I felt a little mixed as I was playing. Things like “Hmm, wish I had a triple jump rather than a double” or “Shame the dash doesn’t work in the air”. Then, I unlocked all those things playing through the demon mode. The devs know what’s good and executed flawlessly. A perfect mix of speed, blindfire killing and precision movement and avoidance that keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you moving. This is what Strafe should have been – my head exploded during first playthrough. It’s awesome. The second you start moving you know it’s gonna be fun – you can wall-jump up to ceiling, you move at 100mph and then you press shift… Guns are twitchy and their upgrades keep you coming back. Sound design is superb.
