The game is played with extremely barebones story content, if you wanted to purchase for that it is not recommended but the 1.0 release should expand on it a little bit. This is so that when other phantoms die you can collect their essence as you progress, if the devs added multiple passages you would most likely see considerably less phantoms and you’d be lower hp frequently, in short a linear path benefits the game long term and I don’t think it is a bad thing. Of course you will still encounter spike traps and the like even late game but the room layouts will all be different, reusing traps in new creative ways is always a plus in my books.
